Sarah Lawrence College bio:
B.A., Williams College. M.A., M. Phil., Ph.D., Columbia University. Previously taught at American University of Beirut. Teaching interests in media and consumer culture, the social and religious history of the modern Middle East, and in the history of the Levant. Author of a recent book chapter on household management and modern domesticity in 1940s Palestine; currently serves on the board of the Syrian Studies Association, the editorial board of the Journal of Levantine Studies, and the program committee of the 2011 American Historical Association Annual Meeting. NYU Center for Dialogues bio:
Stanton received her doctorate in Middle East history in 2007 from Columbia University, and spent 2007-2008 as a visiting assistant professor at the American University of Beirut. In addition to her work at the NYU Center for Dialogues, which involves programming, strategic development, policy work and community outreach, she serves on the board of the Syrian Studies Association and as the H–Levant list editor. She is also a Williams College alumni class officer. At NYU she serve as a student mentor for the University’s Islamic Center and as a member of NYU’s Mediterranean Studies Research Group.
